The concept of Areia originates in the vision of it’s founder, Erna María, who after years of dividing her time between Colombia and native Iceland, longed to create timeless, affordable jewellery inspired by her blended and vibrant cultures.
Jewellery is more than adornment — it’s memory, identity, and self-expression. Since the earliest civilisations, humans have turned to jewellery as a way of marking moments, expressing love, and telling their stories. At Areia, we honour this enduring tradition by crafting pieces that feel intimate, soulful, and enduring. And when a piece has fulfilled its chapter with you, we encourage it to be passed forward, or recycled into a new piece — so its story continues.

Every Areia piece is handmade using only recycled 925 sterling silver, carefully crafted by a women-owned and women-led family workshop in Thailand. This partnership allows us to preserve artisanal techniques while supporting fair, empowering work environments for women.
